Collagen Induction Therapy

What is Collagen Induction Therapy?

Collagen Induction Therapy (also known as dermal needling, micro needling or CIT) Is a procedure designed to enhance and improve skin complexion. It does this by safely and gently puncturing the skin with tiny micro needles. This stimulates the skins natural regenerative process which promotes collagen production. Rest assured the structure of the epidermis is not damaged during this procedure but is penetrated enough to activate the natural healing process. After a course of treatments skin is visibly revitalised, rejuvenated, replenished and regenerated.

Would Collagen Induction Therapy be right for my skin?

Collagen Induction Therapy treatments are recommended for:

  • Minimising fine lines (particularly lines around the lip and eye area)
  • Reducing pore size and improving your skin's texture
  • Naturally increasing your skin's collagen formation
  • Reducing scars such as acne scaring
  • Diminishing stretch marks
  • Strengthening your epidermal skin barrier
  • Improving cellular skin communication and therefore assisting your skin to operate at optimal efficiency
  • Reducing pigmentation
  • Assisting sluggish skin that is slow to heal

What does the treatment involve?

Before the micro needling treatment, your face is thoroughly cleansed and prepared. The process itself is nearly painless; (an anaesthetic cream can be applied by the aesthetician if preferred) the needles only penetrate the top layer of the skin plus the speed and depth of penetration can be adjusted by the operator based on your level of comfort, ensuring a great experience plus optimal results.

Immediately after your treatment there will be visible redness on the treatment area which can be easily covered post treatment. Most inflammation will have disappeared one day after the procedure. Patients should avoid direct sunlight in the first days after micro needling.

How often should you have a CIT treatment?

The number and frequency of treatments is very patient specific depending on your skin type and condition and will be determined by your aesthetician. In general most patients undergo 3-6 treatments at intervals of four to eight weeks. This includes a free Enzyme Facial one week after each treatment as well as a continued skincare regime or specific maintenance plan.
